Growing up in a small New England town Chris has always been and object maker. His passion for creating led him to the Rhode Island School of Design where he received his BFA in sculpture. While at RISD he studied stone carving at the Nicoli Studio in Carrara. Upon graduating he relocated to Atlanta GA and opened up his studio. He began taking commissions for both public and private gardens, focusing primarily in stone. Over the years he has expanded his work to include wood, and ferro cement, creating commissions for both indoors and out.
The work I create is inspired by my observations of the flora and fauna that inspire me on a daily basis. I am drawn to nature’s details, nuances, and subtleties, from a patch of mushrooms pushing up through the leaf litter to a colony of wasps building their nest layer by layer. Rendering the shapes, textures and colors of the natural world in my work, my sculptures sometimes manifest as abstractions or sometimes narratives that hopefully make the viewer more aware of the natural world that surrounds us everyday.
