Victoria Angelique Primicias has lived in Manila, Toronto and Chicago. Warmer weather and friends beckoned her to the Raleigh, NC area in 2009, which she now calls home.
Primicias is a 25-year graphic design veteran whose work has been recognized in various publications including Communication Arts, American Institute of Graphic Arts, Print and many more. She holds a BA in Fine Art History from the University of Toronto and Graphic Design from George Brown College.
My paintings have been described as visual meditations: tranquil yet flowing with energy and depth.
I achieve this effect by applying up to 30 thin layers of blended oil/wax using a spatula and brayer onto a lightweight, wooden panel. Each layer is scratched, scraped and incised with carving tools and whisks to create surface texture and interest.
My paintings may undergo a great amount of willful abuse, yet they somehow emerge with a luminous serenity. That’s what I love about wax paintings. They're resilient and they glow.
