Kenny Colors

Ken Kocses

Ken Kocses was born in 1983 in Union, NJ. He received a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2005. Ken currently lives and works in Ridgewood, Queens. He has exhibited in various group shows throughout Brooklyn and NYC including Storefront Bushwick and Williamsburg Art Center. Ken's artwork has been featured online at Bushwick Daily, Good Magazine, Animal NY, Brokelyn and DNA Info.

My work is an over-sugarized, kidlike celebration of 80s and 90s pop culture. Using a variety of materials (including kids arts and crafts supplies) and methods (video game editing software/iPhone painting apps), I create images that go beyond the ironic. Over different bodies of work, I explore the idea of free spirited play as it operates in and responds to the massive illusions of a hyper-stimulated culture of consumption and overaccumulation.
