ARTIST STATEMENT

Inspired by photography and the picture my landscapes explore the way a place or moment resides in memory. The painting is the recollection. Working with spray paint, silkscreen, inks, color sticks, paper, tape and various paints, every material employs specific marks; each contributing their element in creating my picture. The figure is found in nature, what is perceived as nature or from man made adornments to the landscape and is often an overlooked element that details the scenery of everyday. The world around it exists like a fading dream that this, now monumental like figure is isolated and depicted amid. Sometimes what is happening in the background of a moment transforms to the most prominent in retrospect. The action can become meaningless outside of the environment it exists in.
