I have been painting for more than 20 years - mostly self taught. Painting has been a very satisfying private pursuit aimed at expressing my personal opinions, issues and beliefs. I agree with Picasso's statement that, "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary." I have sold a few pieces. Mostly for charity and to close friends and family. It has only been in recent years that I've thought about broadening my reach.
My painting style is a blend of logic and emotion. The style is direct, intense and organic. My favorite thing in the world is a blank canvas. Painting is the only part of my life where I feel comfortable enough to let things happen organically. I usually have a preconceived idea of what the painting will look like but am sometimes surprised by the finished product. The journey, not the destination, is the most rewarding part of painting process for me. My favorite artists are Vincent Van Gogh and Wassily Kandinsky. Van Gogh's brushstrokes conveyed the intensity of his emotions. And Kandinsky because although his pieces are abstract there is an underlying organic flow, rhythm, and structure.
