ARTIST STATEMENT

Dan's work is inspired by classical mythology and American Dream mythology. He's utilized many formal approches to his work including abstract shapes, images and text. His work on Artsicle is comprised of work created while living in New York. His abstract paintings developed concurrently to collage and rendered imagery. His work is derived from layered information, original drawings, and found media, sourced from his digital and analog libraries. His process involves sifting research, gathering and compiling visual data as an intimate form of visual communication with an attempt at emboldening the viewer and sharing his own anxieties and humor.
