My work is partially process driven and I have recently been experimenting with sea salt. I typically begin each piece by applying an ink wash on paper. I facilitate a situation where unexpected occurrences happen between the time when the ink is wet and when it dries. Once the ink (and sometimes sea salt) is settled on the paper, I transform the piece by drawing or painting on select elements. I am interested in the tension both between the graphic and the atmospheric and between minimal and maximized spaces. The works in this project are loosely based on possible happenings in the arctic They often depict something like a primordial astral event in a previously unknown environment.
