Atousa Raissyan is a self thought artist and photographer. Her work is a representation of her journey to rise above life's challenges to be a witness of those challenges and share her life's lessons through her art. Therefore her work tends to be spiritual in nature and they are inspired by a meditation, poetry, quote, or people around her. Most of the inspiration comes from Rumi, Hafez, Osho, Mooji, and Kahlil Gibran. In the description for most of the paintings you will see the quote or poem that inspired the art work. She wishes that her joy and excitement for life comes out in her art work and brings joy to whoever views them. Atousa mainly works with Acrylics, photo manipulation and digital painting/drawing. She has had several features in online and print magazines, with the most recent one being the Catapult Art Magazine 0713 V23.
I think fear stops most people from creating and being creative. Fear of judgement mostly. So I always share my story and my favorite Van Gogh quote: "Just slap anything on when you see a blank canvas staring you in the face like some imbecile. You don't know how paralyzing that is, that stare of a blank canvas is, which says to the painter, ‘You can't do a thing’. The canvas has an idiotic stare and mesmerizes some painters so much that they turn into idiots themselves. Many painters are afraid in front of the blank canvas, but the blank canvas is afraid of the real, passionate painter who dares and who has broken the spell of `you can't' once and for all.” I put my fears aside on February of 2013 when I started putting my work online and since then I have produce 110 artworks, I have a website that on average has close to 3000 visitors a month, a Facebook page that has 244 followers, 32 artworks sold (from greeting cards to large canvases), several features in art magazines, blogs, websites, and exhibition. The best reward for me is that many different people letting me know that my work has impacted them at a deep level and has helped them in some way or another. My wish is to reach people globally, hopefully at a time that they need encouragement, need a smile, need positive energy and that they get what they need from my work.
