I paint in oil, bold colors with brush strokes that tend to be more loose. I am drawn to compositions made more interesting by patterns of light and shadow. Whether I am painting outside 'en plein air,' or in the studio, I try to capture the mood of my subject. If I can capture a particular mood with a good mix of color, contrast, and interesting shapes—all the while chasing the sunlight and keeping my painting fresh—then I've had a good painting day.
