My creative energy thrives on the challenges and rewards of navigating through new environments and diverse cultures. Born in Belgium to a Swedish mother and a Turkish father, raised in Japan and the United States, and never one to turn down an adventure, my travels and global sojourns continuously feed and inspire me. I love discovering the world, its history, mystery, places and people. The sensory feast found in tradition, ritual, and culture endlessly fascinate and excite me. Making art helps me process what I’ve seen, been moved by, felt and sometimes forgotten. It allows me to process what I can’t describe, telling a story that has no words. Rather, much like a memory or dream, painting allows me to explore and understand the deep visceral impressions life is all about. I am drawn to the energy of ancient places and worn surfaces of time. I use mixed media to create layers that expose and conceal textures and color. While my work is personal in nature, I hope it can resonate and converse with your memories and stories. I am delighted that I am able to share it with you.
