New York City artist Ben Hilario-Caguiat is of Philippine descent and an unconventional printmaker and sculptor. Artistic his whole life, he moved into fine arts after years in the business world. He received an MBA in Strategic Management from Pace University and a BA in Economics from New York University with additional studies at the School of Visual Arts. His innate artistic sense covers both digital and analog 2D and 3D fields. His works have exhibited in the United States and are included in personal collections.

I create sculptures and prints under the TORNADi brand name to counter chaos and its echoes. I meditate clearly on an emotion I wish to convey before I begin. Midway through I add new concepts to challenge myself to go deeper into my artistic well and find offbeat solutions. The result is art that goes beyond my expectations because in the middle of my creative "panic," the work of art itself calls forth its true form. After each created piece I look for fresh inspirational horizons. These four pillars are my artistic bedrock:

  1. I burn inspirations into my mind to help carry projects through to the end.
  2. Mistakes are happy accidents that make pieces better.
  3. I imagine myself as a tiny visitor walking around, crossing under and even flying over my art.
  4. No matter the outcome, my art must challenge boundaries yet remain beautiful enough to be worth your time.
