In my paintings I am interested in the invisible realm of our being and its relationship to our visible world. So much of who we are is invisible – our dreams, our emotions, our ideas, our thinking - as well as that invisible thread which connects us to others and to the world. Clearly there is also a strong, fluid and persistent relationship between the spiritual (invisible) and the material (visible) planes of being. Our dreams take form, our thinking becomes concrete, our vision becomes real. What I try to convey in my painting is the sense that within our physical world lies an invisible realm of being filled with wonder, potential and beauty. I often times give my paintings names as titles. I am not thinking of any specific person when I paint. Instead I mean to suggest that a part of who we are today exists on an invisible (spiritual) level of being, and these shapes and colors are as much an imprint of our character as our physical being.
